The nights before I arrived in Dallas for Seminar I dreamed of being crowned Queen. My excitement and also my nervousness grew with each passing day, hour and minute. When the night finally began I had to take deep breaths to calm myself. When the stage call came for consultant’s personal sales I don’t know what would have happened if it wasn’t for my sister consultants and director helping to keep me calm.
Once backstage, a staff member told me where to stand. I was joined by other top consultants and we talked as we waited. My director came back stage to tell me she would be allowed to come on stage too but only if I was crowned the Queen. At that moment I almost lost it, because she had been a big part of this journey.
As each name was read the closer I moved to the stairs that would take me onto the stage. The excitement was building with my every step forward. With only a few steps to go a lady with a clipboard congratulated me and added “One of you will be crowned Queen tonight.” With that a gentlemen took my arm. He told me at the top of the steps there would be an “X” on the floor. He said at the point I needed to look up and wave to the thousands in the convention hall. After pausing at the “X” we would walk down the staircase where my national sales director would be waiting to take me to the center of the stage.
A chorus of congratulations came from staff members as I made my way to the steps backstage. Their words of encouragement made me feel special and very important. Finally the announcer read my name and I stepped into the open at the top of the steps. I looked out and waved to the crowd and then proceeded down the stairs. With each step I knew I was closer to learning if I was going to be the Queen.
With all the top consultants now on stage Susan Johnson named Daphne Lewis the first runner up and I lost it. I was so excited I didn’t even hear my entire named being called. I was stunned, shocked and couldn’t believe that I won. My National Sales Director Kate and I both asked each other “Can you believe it?”
Having Darryl Overcash escort me to the throne was almost too much. Sitting down while wearing my crown and being handed the most gorgeous roses completed the magical moment. I truly felt like a princess.
Darryl Overcash explained how proud he was of me. He told me “You make a beautiful Queen.” Since my family couldn’t be there to see it having Kate and Kali beside me was the second best thing. They had served as cheerleaders, friends and offered spiritual guidance throughout the past year. Also special was looking out in the crowd to see Dave DeBlander, Josh Brigham, Anna Mattheiss, and Lisa St. Gelais cheering and yelling my name.
While still seated on stage I talked to the crowd. I spoke about the year long journey that led to the throne. What I said came from the heart and I meant every word. I explained how every day I feel blessed to have the opportunity to stay home with my girls while being able to run a business.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Soaring Stars Unit and Kate DeBlander’s National Area for their encouragement and support needed to complete this dream. I also want to thank everyone that prayed for my family when Sara was born and had 3 surgeries. I personally had never experienced the power of prayer and I felt my faith has been restored stronger than ever.
Finally my advice to you every woman out there, make everyone feel important and always remember you can do it.
Love,
Queen Katie
